102 - Operation of an unapproved food premises [s. 6(1)] Observation: There is a coffee kiosk set up in the main entrance area with an espresso machine. The plumbing isn't hooked up and approval has not been obtained for the kiosk. An Operating Permit is required for the coffee station/kiosk (serving lattes, americanos, etc counts as food service). Corrective Action(s): The approval to operate the kitchen does not extend beyond the kitchen itself. For coffee service at the front entrance, you require a permit (which is not required for the kitchen due to the nature of the use). The coffee machine has to be plumbed in and be set up right beside a handsink. There is also a permit fee of $150 per fiscal year. There has to be a staff member present with a valid Foodsafe Level 1 certification at all times. You also need to submit Food Safety and Sanitation Procedures.
