LICENSING: 10010 - CCLR s.10(1) - Applicants for licences and licensees must notify a medical health officer immediately of any change in the information provided under section 9.
Observation: During the inspection Licensing observed that 6 of the 7 children in care were in the outdoor glass fenced in play area. During the licensing process it was communicated to the Director that this glass fenced in outdoor play area is only large enough to accommodate 3 children in care. An additional onsite outdoor play area has sufficient space for 8 children in care
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure to use the entire licensed outdoor place space or the facility capacity will be reduced. In addition please ensure to submit an outdoor play plan stating your intention to use the entire outdoor play area space when more than 3 children are in care.

PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11020 - CCLR s.13(2) - A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation: The following was observed in the outdoor play area:
-A screen was partially attached to a door frame. A child was repeatedly hiding behind the screen.

PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11090 - CCLR s.15(1)(b) - A licensee must supply equipment, furniture and supplies that are (b) located so as not to block or hamper an exit in the case of fire or other emergency.
Observation: Licensing observed a sleep mat was placed in front of an exit. This was removed during the inspection. This is a repeat contravention from inspection # CLAN-C3ETZD and #CLAN-CCJSN3
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure no items are placed in front of an exit that may potentially block or hamper the exit in case of emergency.

PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11200 - CCLR s.17 - A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.
Observation: The following was observed:
-A car set was observed in the outdoor play area where the children were playing. This could present a falling or tipping hazard. This was removed during the inspection.
-A blind cord was within easy reach of the children. This was corrected during the inspection.
-Two bottles of shampoo were observed in a cupboard under the sink. This was accessible to children.
-Diaper cream was observed on a shelf in the classroom and in a bin with sunblock on the back of the toilet in the washroom. This was accessible to children. This was corrected during the inspection. Diaper cream being accessible is a repeat contravention from inspection # CLAN-C3ETZD
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure children do not have access to any objects or substances that may be hazardous to their health and safety.

PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11220 - CCLR s.23(2) - A licensee must have first aid kits that are readily accessible to all employees, including while care is provided off the community care facility premises.
Observation: Licensing observed that the first aid kit was not taken outside to the play area during outdoor play. In addition several items are missing from the first aid kit and this must be replenished to be prepared in case of an accident or injury requiring first aid.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure the first aid kit is taken outside during outdoor play time and that it has sufficient supplies to be prepared in case of an accident or injury.

POLICIES AND PROCEDURES: 13050 - CCLR s.56(1)(c) - A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].
Observation: During the inspection licensing reviewed the record of fire drills. The last routine inspection was completed in May 2022. No record of fire drills was observed for the months of June 2022-December 2022. In addition the emergency drill for 2022 was not observed. In discussion with the Director she stated these were completed but she had removed the previous year's recorded information.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure to keep current records of both the fire drills and emergency drills as proof of compliance with the legislation.
