Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care & Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulation (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DOLSP). Evidence for this report was based on the Licensing Officer’s observations, review of the facility records and information provided by the facility staff at the time of inspection.
The following areas were reviewed:

· Hygiene and Communicable Disease Control
· Medication
· Nutrition and Food Services
· Program
· Records and Reporting

As part of the routine inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided. The Risk Assessment includes non-compliance identified during the routine inspection and a 3 year “historical” review of the facility’s compliance and operation.

Contraventions
Previous Inspection - Contraventions observed on FIR #JCHE-A7WVFA have been corrected except for those noted on supplementary pages.
Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
POLICIES AND PROCEDURES: 13050 - CCLR s.56(1)(c) - A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].
Observation: Licensing observed that there was no record of a fire drill being completed in November 2016. There were only records available showing September and October 2016. Manager stated that they did complete a fire drill but did not record it.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure that fire and evacuation drills are completed and recorded as required.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19260 - CCLR s.58(2)(b) - The licensee must (b) review the care plan at least once each year with a parent of the child requiring extra support and any person requested by the parent.
Observation: Licensing reviewed 4 children's files and it was fund that 2 required care plans and the care pans had not been reviewed with a parent or guardian in more than 2 years. one care plan review was dated Sept 2012, the other contained no date. Manager stated that she will update these with the parent as soon as possible.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure that any care plans are reviewed with a parent/guardian and any other person requested by the parent at least once per year.

Please ensure that a system is in place to check evacuation supplies, it was observed that some of the foods in the bin are expiring Dec 2016.
