RODENT DROPPINGS OBSERVED THROUGHOUT DOWNSTAIRS STORAGE UNIT.

- Potentially contaminated paper open bag of gelatin still at facility and had not been discarded.

CORRECTION ORDER ISSUED for violations of the Food Premises Regulation sections:
11. Food is not protected from contamination [FPR s. 12(a)]
16. Premises is not free of pests [FPR s. 26(a)]
17. Food premises is not maintained in sanitary condition [FPR s. 17(1)]

The following actions are to be completed by facility owners/operators:
1)Clean and sanitize all areas affected by rodent droppings. Spray rodent droppings with 200ppm chlorine solution or equivalent. Remove droppings from area. Wet affected area with 200ppm chlorine or equivalent and soak area to sanitize.:
- Extensive cleaning in downstairs storage area including: Floors, Shelves, tops of containers, counter,
- Discard any contaminated food product, storage container or cardboard that can not be cleaned and sanitized
- Sanitize tops of canned food items
- Clean upstairs electrical cupboard removing all rodent droppings and sanitizing affected area
- Clean and sanitize any area upstairs contaminated by rodent droppings including electrical cupboard, floor, stool, lower shelves
2)Remove all dishes and equipment from lower shelves until rodent infestation is eliminated.
3) Inspect facility for points of entry for pests. Seal any holes.
4) Obtain services of professional pest control company.Have traps set.
5) Follow recommendations advised by Pest Control Technician
6) Obtain additional shelving and ensure items are not stored on floor

Environmental Health Officer to return for inspection in one week. If the above items are not completed to the satisfaction of the EHO further progressive enforcement action will occur.

NOTE: at next inspection a CORRECTION ORDER will be issued for removal of carpet in downstairs area. Today cleaning and organizing is required as well as obtaining services of Pest Control company, sealing all holes, storing items up off floor.
