Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulation (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practise (DLSP). All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11080 - CCLR s.15(1)(a) - A licensee must supply equipment, furniture and supplies that are (a) of sturdy and safe construction, easy to clean and free from hazards.
Observation: The following was observed inside the facility:
-some sleep mats are showing signs of wear and tear which makes the surface difficult to clean and sanitize. There are some new sleep mats that have replaced some old ones already.
-some blind cords may be accessible by children
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure that sleep mats are in good repair.
Please ensure all blind cords are not accessible by children.

Comments

At the inspection dated July 17, 2019, there were 16 children and 4 staff present. At this inspection the above contraventions were identified. As part of this Routine Inspection, a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided.

The following education/recommendations were provided:
· Promoting Active Play in the program
· Temporary Placements
· Active Supervision
· Lead in the Water
