Introduction

An unscheduled/scheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing of Practice (DLSP). All categories of care were inspected for compliance.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
LICENSING: 10070 - CCLR s.11(4) - A licensee must display in a prominent place in the community care facility the certificate, or a copy of the certificate, of any educator or assistant employed to work in the community care facility.
Observation: During the inspection it was noted that one staff's certificate was not on display. The manager showed the staff's certificate on her phone. Manager was advised that the certificate must be on display according to the legislation.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure all certificates are displayed in a prominent location.

STAFFING: 12090 - CCLR s.19(1)(f) - A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (f) evidence that the person has complied with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs.
Observation: During the routine inspection the staff files were reviewed and it was noted that one staff's immunization file was not available. The manager said that the staff had made an appointment with the family doctor to get her immunization record. Licensing will email licensee the Fraser Health Employee Immunization Form for future reference.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure all staff files are complete.

Comments

At the inspection dated July 25, 2023 there were 4 children and 2 staff present. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified . Actions required by the licensee and actions required the LO included here. As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided.

The following education/recommendations were provided:

· Licensing recommend verifying the new hire references and initial after verifying the references.
· Education was provided regarding the Minor Log Book for all classrooms for small incidents.
· Temporary Placements and Exemptions
· Active Supervision
· Lead in the Water – flushing the pipes to remove any impurities before using the drinking water
