PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation: Licensing observed the following inside the facility:
-a plug cover was missing. This is a repeat contravention.
The following was noticed outside the facility:
-a pair of rusty scissors was under the deck. This could cause a potential cutting hazard and a health hazard due to the presence of rust. This was corrected during the inspection.
-a picnic bench with a broken wood bench and rusty nails were exposed. This could cause a potential puncture injury to children and a health hazard due to the presence of rust. The Manager stated that she will ask someone to remove the nails and sand the table. The Manager stated she will remove the nails today while she is waiting to find someone to sand the bench. The children will not have access to this picnic bench while waiting for it to be repaired.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times to children in care.

STAFFING: 12090 - CCLR s.19(1)(f) - A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (f) evidence that the person has complied with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs.
Observation: Two staff out of three staff records were reviewed. Two staff members were missing a record of immunization status.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure staff records are complete.

STAFFING: 12430 - CCLR s.56(1)(b) - A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (b) for each employee, the records required under section 19 (1) [character and skill requirements].
Observation: Licensing observed two out of three staff records. One staff record had a criminal record check (CRC) that was expired. In discussion with the staff member she said she has applied for the CRC and is awaiting the result.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure criminal record checks are renewed prior to the expiry date.

Observation: Licensing observed that there was no written active play or screen use policy. This a repeat contravention from inspection # CLAN-B7LPCD
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure an active play policy and a screen use policy is created, implemented and shared with the families.

Observation: Eight children's files of eight were reviewed. Two children were missing their MSP number and immunization status. One child was missing their name, date of birth and sex (gender).
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure the children's files are complete.

Observation: Eight children's records of eight children were reviewed. One child was missing a name and telephone number of a parent of a parent, one child was missing the contact information of a medical practitioner and three children were missing an emergency contact.
