Observation:
Mice droppings found beneath prep sink and stove in the main kitchen, and in the resident storage cupboard.
Corrective Action(s):
Clean up all the mice droppings and sanitize the areas. Implement an integrated pest management program, this consists of:
a) Contract a pest control company to monitor, trap and eliminate the mice.
b) Place all foods in food grade containers that are made of hard plastic, glass or stainless steel and have tight fitting lids on it.
c) Block all holes, gaps and opening found in walls and around doors & pipes.
d) Detailed cleaning of all areas of the kitchen to occur. All equipment, surfaces and areas (cupboards, counter tops, shelves, floor under equipment, etc.) must be cleaned on a regular basis.
e) Forward copies all pest control reports/invoices to our office for review, and continue to do so until the infestation is eliminated. Send to: HPTriCities@fraserhealth.ca

Comments

A routine inspection was conducted, the following observations were made:
Main Kitchen
- Coolers 4C or colder; freezers -21C; thermometers present; and temps recorded daily.
- High temperature dishwasher had a rinse temperature of 78.8C at the plate's surface, as per max/min thermometer.
- Hand sink stocked with liquid soap, paper towels, and running hot and cold water.
- Lysol disinfectant used to sanitize surfaces. Spray bottles had 200ppm Quats. Test strips present.
- FoodSafe certified staff present.
- Foods stored in food grade containers; covered; labeled; date coded; foods stored in groups with raw proteins separate from RTE foods; and foods stored 6" off the floor on shelves and racks.
- General sanitation level is good, but improvement needed in cupboards under sinks, and floors under equipment (stoves, fridges and freezers). These are need to be cleaned everyday due to the mice infestation.
- Mice droppings found in various areas of the kitchen. An integrated pest control program requires to be implemented.

Resident Storage Cupboards & Snack Kitchen
- Cooler 0C; freezer was -24C; thermometers present; and temps recorded daily.
- High temperature dishwasher rinse cycle had temperature of 78.8C at the plate's surface, as per max/min thermometer.
- Hand sink stocked with liquid soap, paper towels, and running hot and cold water.
- Lysol disinfectant in spray bottles had Quats of 200ppm.
- General sanitation level is good, but regular cleaning of each resident snack storage cupboard is required.
- Found mice droppings in the resident storage cabinet, where resident luggage and other personal effects are stored. Clean the droppings up and store all items off the floor (6"), and ensure to move and clean this area on a regular basis.

- Immediately forward all pest control reports and/or invoices to our office for review, and continue to forward them until the mice infestation is eliminated. Send to:

- A follow-up inspection to occur on Dec. 10/21, or later, to ensure corrections have been completed.
- Discussed inspection results with the Admin. Supervisor, no signature obtained due to the pandemic.
