Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care & Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulation (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DOLSP). All care categories were inspected for compliance.

Observed Violations
STAFFING: 12040 - CCLR s.19(1)(a) - A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.
Observation: The managers criminal record check has expired. Although the manager has made attempts to renew, a valid criminal record check has not been received.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure that a valid criminal record check is available for the manager.

STAFFING: 12090 - CCLR s.19(1)(f) - A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (f) evidence that the person has complied with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs.
Observation: Five staff files were reviewed. Immunization status was not obtained for four staff.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure immunization status in available for all staff.

Comments

Summary of Inspection
At the inspection dated February 16, 2021 there were 21 children and four staff present. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. The Licensee will take action to bring the facility into compliance and provide a written response to the Licensing Officer. The Licensing Officer will review the response. As part of this routine inspection, a facility risk assessment tool is completed and a copy is provided. This report was reviewed with the manager and written off site. A copy of this report will be emailed to the manager. Total time includes office time.
The following were discussed:
· Providing CCFL with a current list of the society board of directors.
· Having a separate time in/out sheet for room 6 and room 7.
