Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). Evidence for this report was based on the licensing officer’s observations, review of the facility records, and information provided by the facility staff at the time of inspection.
The following areas were reviewed:

· Hygiene and Communicable Disease Control
· Medication
· Nutrition and Food Services
· Program
· Records and Reporting
As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided. The Risk Assessment includes non-compliance identified during the routine inspection, and a 3 year ‘historical’ review of the facility’s compliance and operation.

Observed Violations
LICENSING: 10050 - CCLR s.11(1) - A licensee must display in a prominent place in the community care facility both the licence, including any terms or conditions of the licence, and the name of the manager.
Observation: The name of the manager is not posted in the facility.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure the name of the manager is posted near the facility license.

Comments

Eighteen children in care during today's inspection. The group was observed engaged in free play and structured activities, circle time, lunch time and bathroom routines.
Ample resources and equipment available for the children both indoor and outdoors. Supervision practices were reviewed with the manager along with changes to the legislation, water tap flushing, and reportable incident processes. In the event of a delay in reporting incidents the Manager is encouraged to contact Fraser Health Central Intake at 604-587-3936.
Fire and Emergency drill's were discussed, along with storage of supplies and first aid kits resources.
Resources shared today include: Immunization Poster, Reportable Incident Forms and LO Business card.
