Introduction

A scheduled follow up inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care & Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulation (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSOP). Evidence for this report was based on the Licensing Officers observations, review of the facility records and information provided by the facility staff at the time of inspection.
Contraventions from the previous inspection were the focus of this inspection.

Contraventions
Previous Inspection - Contraventions observed on FIR # have been corrected except for those noted on supplementary pages.
Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
STAFFING: 12040 - CCLR s.19(1)(a) - A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.
Observation: There is one staff who has worked alone with children who does not have a current criminal record check in place that was obtained by this facility through the CRC Review Program.
Corrective Action(s): Ensrue that each person employed fir as a CRC in place prior to working with children.

STAFFING: 12060 - CCLR s.19(1)(c) - A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (c) a record of the person's work history.
Observation: There is one staff in place who has worked alone with children who does not have a resume in place.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure a resume is in place prior to employing a person to work with children.

POLICIES AND PROCEDURES: 13020 - CCLR s.22(1)(b) - A licensee must have all of the following: (b) an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.
Observation: The emergency supplies is not sufficient to sustain the number of children in care in the event of an emergency. There is expired food in the emergency supplies.
Corrective Action(s): Ensrue the emergency plan is sufficient to respond to and recover an emergency.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19120 - CCLR s.57(2)(f) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (f) any medication administered to the child, including the amount and the time at which the medication was administered.
Observation: The licensee stated that a child has received medication, however the time and amount was not recorded.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure records are kept showing medication administration.

Comments

Discussion was had around recording accurate arrival and departure times for children. Licensing discussed that children are in care at the facility and a different group of children are being taken to school, this number can not exceed 7.
