Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DoLSoP). All care categories were inspected for compliance.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensing observed a window blind cord at a level accessible to children.

PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11020 - CCLR s.13(2) - A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation: Licensing observed that the diaper changing mat was ripped in two places
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance

Comments

At this inspection there were 6 children, the licensee and a volunteer present. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. The Licensee will take action to bring the facility into compliance and provide a written response to licensing by June 14, 2023 stating how you have addressed the above noted contraventions. Licensing will review the response.
As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided.
The following was discussed with the Licensee;
· Maintenance of change table and following manufacturer's directions in terms of weight limits
· Minor Incident log
· Requirements if using NPN # or DIN # in first aid kits
· Licensee explained that trampoline in backyard will be removed within the week
· Required paper documentation for staff
· Valid CRC's are available, reviewed expiry date
The contents of this report was reviewed with the licensee and a copy will be emailed to the facility.
