Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care & Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulation (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DOLSP). Evidence for this report was based on the Licensing Officer’s observations, review of the facility records and information provided by the facility staff at the time of inspection.
The following areas were reviewed:

· Hygiene and Communicable Disease Control
· Medication
· Nutrition and Food Services

· Records and Reporting
As part of the routine inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided. The Risk Assessment includes non-compliance identified during the routine inspection and a 3 year “historical” review of the facility’s compliance and operation.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
LICENSING: 10070 - CCLR s.11(4) - A licensee must display in a prominent place in the community care facility the certificate, or a copy of the certificate, of any educator or assistant employed to work in the community care facility.
Observation: Not all ECE/ECE A Certificates are posted.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure it is posted

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19220 - CCLR s.58(1)(b) - A licensee must keep, for each child requiring extra support, a current care plan showing the following information: (b) the courses of action recommended by health care professionals to address the needs of the child requiring extra support.
Observation: Based on the information provided there is a child that requires a care plan.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure care plan is written with consultation with the parent, and provides the course of action/intervention to best support the child.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19370 - DLSOP Safe Play Space (maintenance of equipment [b3]) - [bullet 3] Keep a log of all inspections, maintenance and repairs.
Observation: Children have regular outdoor opportunities yet the log of inspections is not consistent
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure log of inspections, maintenance and repair is documented

Comments

Children have opportunities for walks around the neighborhood.
Children have opportunities for group and individual activities.
Staff observed provided supportive assistance to children.
Licensing discussed that Active Play and Screen Use Policy will be required, facilities have until September 30, 2017 to come into compliance with the Legislation. Please forward your draft copy.
