Introduction

An unscheduled/scheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing of Practice (DLSP). All categories of care were inspected for compliance.

Contraventions
Previous Inspection -
Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation: During the routine inspection licensing observed that the fence at the back of the yard has been removed by the neighbor and the hole where the three/bushes used to grow have been covered with black rolling tarp that is supported by some wooden steaks. The hole is 3 feet in height and 5 feet length, however the fence is longer than 5 feet. Licensing could not measure the entire fence as a garden bed was in the way. It is important to note that although the hole is convered by the rolling tarp and supported by the wooden steaks the hole can be easily acessed by children.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure that the fence is repaired and the facility is in a safe condition.
Date to be Corrected: October 2023

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19070 - CCLR s.57(2)(a) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (a) name, sex, date of birth, medical insurance plan number and immunization status.
Observation: During the routine inspection licensing reviewed 7 children's files and all the files were missing the gender of the child.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure the gender/sex of the child is noted in the files.
Date to be Corrected: August 18, 2023
