Observation: Expired decal found on the health permit, records show that the yearly permit fees of $150 have not been paid yet. The premises must hold a valid health permit and decal to operate.
Corrective Action(s): Immediately pay the outstanding permit fees of $150. Owner indicated that he will pay the fees online.

306 - Food premises not maintained in a sanitary condition [s. 17(1)]
Observation: Dust and food debris accumulated on upper walls; exhaust filters; and on exterior surfaces/doors of equipment (coolers, freezers, etc.). Dust could fall into food and food debris can attract pests.
Corrective Action(s): Clean the mentioned areas and increase the frequency at which these areas are being done.

Comments

A routine inspection was completed, the following observations were made:
- Coolers 4C or colder; freezers -18C or colder; and thermometers present.
- High temperature dishwasher had rinse cycle temperature of 71C at the plate's surface, as per max/min thermometer.
- Hand sink stocked with liquid soap, paper towels, and running hot and cold water. A splash barrier present, to prevent dirty hand washing water splashing onto clean dishes.
- All foods stored in food grade containers; covered; date coded; foods stored in groups with proteins stored below RTE foods; and foods stored 6" off the floor on shelves and racks.
- No expired food in use or for sale. FIFO rules being followed.
- FoodSafe certified staff present.
- All surfaces are in good working order, durable, sealed and cleanable. Plastic, protective cover has been removed from the freezer door and handle.
- General sanitation level is good. No signs of pests.
- Quats sanitizer in spray bottle had 200ppm strength.
- Ensure to increase the light level in the kitchen to facilitate cleaning and safety.
