Introduction

A scheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance.

Contraventions
Previous Inspection - Contraventions observed on FIR #EGAU-BEKP7B have been corrected.
Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
STAFFING: 12160 - CCLR s.20(1) - The licensee must not permit a person over the age of 12 to be ordinarily present on the premises of a community care facility while children are present, unless the person is of good character and the licensee has obtained a criminal record check for that person.
Observation: A criminal record check (CRC) has not been completed for an individual who is over the age of 12 years old and is ordinarily present. The licensee advised that the individual is never alone with children.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure CRC's are completed.

Comments

At this inspection, the above noted contravention was identified and Licensing provided a corrective action date. A written response is being requested by July 7, 2020 confirming that application for CRC has been completed.

As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool was completed.

The following was discussed:

COVID-19 prevention strategies
Obtaining documents referred to in section 57 of the CCLR for all individuals under the age of 13 years old if they will be present during child care hours.

The information contained in the report was discussed with the licensee and the report and risk assessment were written off-site. Licensing advised that copies of the report and risk assessment would be emailed to the facility. Licensing provided a resource package containing information around COVID-19 prevention.
