Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DoLSoP). All categories of care were inspected for compliance.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
POLICIES AND PROCEDURES: 13020 - CCLR s.22(1)(b) - A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.
Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): During the routine inspection licensing observed the following:
- a bin containing emergency supplies was present. On the bin there were notes pertinent to the expiry date of items in the bin.
- 5 packages had food and water expired in September of 2024.
- manager remembered that she had new supplies and removed the expired packages and replaced them with new items.
Corrective Action(s): Manager removed the expired packages and replaced them with new items.

At the inspection dated November 15, 2024 there were 36 children, 9 staff, 1 practicum student and the manager present. At this inspection the above noted contravention was identified. The licensee is required to address the contraventions, bring the facility into compliance, and provide a written response to Licensing by the date written below. Licensing will review the response.

As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided.

· Manager and licensing discussed Canada's Food Guide in relation to nutrition and food being offered.
