Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act(CCALA) and the Child Care Licensing Regulations(CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of practice (DOLSOP). All areas were inspected for compliance.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
STAFFING: 12200 - CCLR s.22(2)(c) - A licensee must ensure that each employee (c) practices implementing the emergency plan at least once each year.
Observation: Licensing reviewed the evacuation records, and found the evacuation practices had not been practiced in the past year. This was a contravention in 2022.
Corrective Action(s): Licensee will consider a plan to ensure the evacuation plan is practiced at least once per year.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19070 - CCLR s.57(2)(a) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (a) name, sex, date of birth, medical insurance plan number and immunization status.
Observation: Licensing reviewed 5 children's records, of those one record was not on site until later in the inspection. This file did not contain immunization status.
Corrective Action(s): Licensee will secure the immunization status, and develop a system to ensure all records are on site prior to the child attending care.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19100 - CCLR s.57(2)(d) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.
Observation: 5 children's files were reviewed, of those 1 file did not contain record of emergency contacts for the child.
Corrective Action(s): Licensee will collect the information, and add that to the file.

Summary of Inspection:
During today’s inspection there were 4 children, 1 staff. Staff/ child ratios were met at today’s inspection.
At this inspection, the above noted contraventions were identified. Licensee is required to submit a corrective action plan to address the contraventions. Licensing will review the written response.
As part of the routine inspection, a facility risk assessment tool was completed, and a copy was provided to the facility along with the report. Copies of the inspection report and the Facility Risk Assessment Tool were reviewed, discussed, and provided to the Licensee/Manager.

· Posting Fire and Evacuation drills.
· Reviewing children’s records to ensure all information is on record and located in one place.
· Documenting regularly in the minor incident log book.
