Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DoLSoP). All care categories were inspected for compliance.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
POLICIES AND PROCEDURES: 13030 - CCLR s.22(3) - A licensee must display a copy of the fire drill system in a prominent place in the community care facility.
Observation: The program has been open for a short period however fire drills have not been conducted yet. The Licensing Officer review the requirement with the manager during the inspection.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure fire drills are conducted and recorded on a monthly basis.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19100 - CCLR s.57(2)(d) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.
Observation: Three children's files were reviewed and two children did not have evidence of emergency contacts available.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure children's files are complete including emergency contacts.

Comments

On the inspection date of June 6, 2023 there were 3 children and 1 staff present. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. Actions required by the licensee include a corrective action plan developed and submitted and actions required the LO include to review and monitor corrective action plan. As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided. This inspection report was completed on site, reviewed with the manager and a copy was provided on the same day.

Outdoor maintenance
Diaper change table
Active supervision
Staff files requirements
