Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensing conducted an inspection of the physical facility and observed that a mirror was propped against the wall in one of the nap rooms. Licensing expressed concerns of the mirror tipping in the event of an earthquake or a child moving it if they crawled out of the play pen. The licensee removed the mirror during the inspection.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times.

POLICIES AND PROCEDURES: 13060 - CCLR s.56(1)(d) - A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (d) written policies and procedures that are intended to guide employees in the care and supervision of children.
Observation: Licensing reviewed policies and procedures and observed that the active play policy was missing.
Corrective Action(s): As per DOLSOP, please develop an active play policy.

Summary of Inspection

At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified and licensing provided dates for compliance. Licensing is requesting a written response advising that the active policy has been written.

As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided.

Information to include on a medication consent form if it is symptom specific
