Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care & Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulation (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DoLSOP). Evidence for this report was based on the Licensing Officer’s observations, review of the facility records and information provided by the facility staff at the time of inspection.
The following areas were reviewed: Licensing; Physical Facility; Staffing; Polices & Procedures; Care & Supervision; Hygiene and Communicable Disease Control; Medication; Nutrition and Food Services; Program; Records and Reporting.
As part of the Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided. The Risk Assessment includes non-compliance identified during the routine inspection and a 3 year historical” review of the facility’s compliance and operation.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice.

Observed Violations
No violations were found during the inspection.

Comments

During inspection Licensing discussed the importance of "Active Supervision" with staff just as a reminder regarding actively scanning, counting children etc.

During inspection Licensing children were engaged in free play outside which included: children playing at a sink which has been hooked up with a hose for water play; cihldren playing at a water table in the sand area; books available in a library area; a pulley system with a bucket; children were also engaged in dramatic play. Licensing also observed free art, fine motor materials were available in the inside area.

During inspection Licensing observed staff interacting with children while they were engaged in activities; assisting children when they were in need of a hug or problem solving; Licensing also observed staff touching bases with each other throughout the inspection to see where they were located and if they needed assistance.
