Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care & Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulation (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DOLSP). All care categories were inspected for compliance.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
STAFFING: 12020 - CCLR s.18 - A licensee must not employ as a manager a person who, at the time that the person is managing the licensee's community care facility, is also managing another community care facility.
Observation: The manager is currently managing more than one facility although the exemption to allow this expired on August 1, 2023.
Corrective Action(s): A manager can only manage one facility unless an approved exemption is in place. The manager said she will apply for a new exemption.

Comments

Summary of Inspection
At the inspection dated August 15, 2023 there were seven children and two staff present. At this inspection the above noted contravention was identified. The Licensee will take action to bring the facility into compliance and provide a written response to the Licensing Officer. The Licensing Officer will review the response. As part of this routine inspection, a facility risk assessment tool is completed and a copy is provided. This report was reviewed with the manager and written off site. A copy of this report will be emailed to the manager.
The following were discussed:
Obtaining written permission from families to apply diaper cream.
Ensuring diaper creams have not expired.
Families to sign and date care plans.
