Observation: The front handwashing sink has empty liquid soap and paper towel dispenser. As well, there was a bucket in the sink basin not making the sink accessible. Staff are NOT able or encouraged to wash their hands correctly. This was mentioned in the last inspection.
Corrective Action(s): IMMEDIATELY fill the paper towel dispenser and purchase a liquid soap dispenser and place it at the handwashing sink. Remove the bucket from the sink basin and retrain staff, not to put anything in the sink.

Observation: Accumulation of food debris and grease found on the front handwashing sink and on the blue trolley. This will attract pests.
Corrective Action(s): Wash the front handwashing sink and blue trolley today, and ensure they are cleaned EVERY night with hot water and soap.

307 - Equipment/utensils/food contact surfaces are not of suitable design/material [s. 16; s. 19]
Observation: There is foil covering the deep fryer walls and the lower shelf beneath the gas burner (cooks the rice). As well, there is cardboard on the shelves of the blue trolly. Foil and cardboard are not durable or cleanable, and the accumulated grease and food will attract pests.
Corrective Action(s): Throw away the foil and cardboard away at the end of the day. New foil and cardboard can be placed on the surfaces in the morning, and thrown away at the end of EVERY day.

311 - Premises not maintained as per approved plans [s. 6(1)(b)]
Observation: There are cracked, chipped and damaged floor tiles in the front service area, back kitchen and dry storage room. Grease, food debris and water will accumulated in the holes and under the tiles. This will attract pests.
Corrective Action(s): Replace all damaged floor tiles with new ones so the floor is level, durable, smooth, sealed, and cleanable.

Comments

A routine inspection was completed:
- Coolers 4C or colder; freezers -16C or colder; thermometers present.
- Back kitchen handwashing sink had liquid soap, paper towels, and running hot and cold water.
- Bleach sanitizer in spray bottles had [Cl2] of 200ppm.
- Foods stored in food grade containers; covered; date coded; foods stored in groups with raw proteins separate from RTE foods; and Foods stored 6" off the floor on shelves and racks.
- No expired foods in use or for sale FIFO rules being followed.
- General sanitation level is satisfactory and has been maintained since the last inspection. Improvement needed in the mentioned areas.
- Exhaust canopy is clean and next service due in May 2023 as per service sticker.
- Valid FoodSafe certified staff present.
- No signs of pests.
- Observed staff using disposable gloves corrected at time of inspection. Gloves changed after completing one task.
- Premises is less cluttered, old equipment has been removed. Found unused line coolers in the dry storage room, recommend relocating these to the back storage/office room so the dry storage room can be cleaned easier.

***A follow-up inspection will occur in 2 days to ensure the front handwashing sink is properly stocked with liquid soap and paper towels.***
