Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DoLSoP). All categories of care were inspected for compliance.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11020 - CCLR s.13(2) - A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation: Licensing observed the following:
- some areas of the facility were showing signs of dirt on floor and door frames
- paint on baseboards was pealing
Corrective Action(s): Manager said that they were planning to paint the facility in the long weekend.

PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11190 - CCLR s.16(4)(b) - A licensee must ensure that all indoor and outdoor play materials and equipment accessible to children are (b) safely constructed, free from hazards and in good repair.
Observation: Licensing observed the following:
- a hole/gap at the bottom of the fence measured 1 foot 9 inches and 6 inches deep
- cement block having sharp edges
Corrective Action(s): Manager said that they will add more woodchips to the playspace to cover the hole and the cement block.

Comments

At the inspection dated May 05, 2025 there were 7 children, 1 staff and the manager present. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. The licensee is required to address the contraventions, bring the facility into compliance, and provide a written response to Licensing by the date written below. Licensing will review the response.

As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided.
