PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11080 - CCLR s.15(1)(a) - A licensee must supply equipment, furniture and supplies that are (a) of sturdy and safe construction, easy to clean and free from hazards.
Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): a duvet cover observed within a playpen consists of ties which pose risk to children's safety due to possible head entrapment.
Corrective Action(s): please ensure children's safety by eliminating potential hazards as discussed , the licensee included that the covered would no longer be used effective immediately

PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11200 - CCLR s.17 - A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.
Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): The following hazards accessible to children , it is noted that supervision was maintained at all times reducing risk level to children.
An electric kettle was located on the kitchen counter which was observed unplugged yet warm water content within , cord was positioned toward the front portion of the counter.
2 spray belch / water solution bottles located on the kitchen counter and washroom counter ( door to the washroom closed however a safety device to prevent access to the room was not in place )
exposed electrical outlet within the cubby area at entry to the day-care.
Corrective Action(s): please ensure children do not have access to any object which may be hazardous to their health or safety. Please include in your written response how will ensure children's safety should you continue to use a kettle at times when children are present.
The kettle and spray bottles were relocated during the inspection.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19140 - CCLR s.57(2)(h)(i) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (h) any special instruction respecting the child's diet, medication, participation in a program of activities, or other matter relevant to the child's care, (i) given by the child's parent to the licensee in writing.
Observation: Care plan in place requires annual review and updating as the medication is expired. It is noted that medications were safely stored out of reach of children.
Corrective Action(s): please ensure records for children accurately reflect any special instructions respecting medication. Should children no longer require medications please ensure this is reflected and the medications returned.
