Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
STAFFING: 12450 - CCLR s.60(3)(a) - A licensee must keep (a) in the case of employees, all records required under section 19 (1) [character and skill requirements] for the entire time that the subject of the records is an employee of the community care facility.
Observation: Licensing reviewed 2 staff files and observed that the criminal record check (CRC) for one staff member expired in September 2018. During the inspection, Licensing contacted the licensee contact and was advised that the CRC was renewed and that the copy must have been misplaced.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure that CRC's are renewed every 5 years and that a record is retained at the facility.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19320 - CCLR s.59(a) - In respect of a record referred to in this Division, a licensee must (a) keep in a single place at the community care facility the records referred to in sections 56 to 58.
Observation: The Active Play and Screen Use policies were not on site.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure policies are kept at the facility.

Comments

Summary of Inspection
At the inspection dated June 5, 2019 there were 12 children and 2 staff present. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. Licensing provided corrective action dates and is requesting a written response by June 7, 2019 advising on compliance with coded item number 12450.

As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided.
