Introduction

An Unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA) and the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DoLSoP). All care categories were inspected for compliance.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation: Licensing observed a garbage can in the bathroom with soiled diapers in it without a lid
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure garbage can in the bathroom has a lid in order to maintain a healthy and safe environment for children in care.

PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11200 - CCLR s.17 - A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.
Observation: Licensing inspected the outdoor play space and observed the following:
- Toddler size red bike has rust on the handles and pedals.
- Little tikes activity garden has rust on various parts of the play set.
Manager stated that she will be removing both items from the play space and discarding them.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure children do not have access to any object that may be hazardous to the health and safety of a child.

Comments

At the inspection on June 17, 2021 there were 5 children and 1 staff present .
At this inspection, the above noted contraventions were identified.

As part of this Routine Inspection, a Facility Risk Assessment Tool was completed off site and a copy was provided.

The following discussion was had with the Licensee:
ยท Ensuring that anything with a DIN/ NPN number is removed from the first aid kid or clearly labelled for staff use only, unless permission is obtained from families
