Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All care categories were inspected for compliance.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
STAFFING: 12040 - CCLR s.19(1)(a) - A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.
Observation: Licensing reviewed three staff files. Two of these staff members did not have a site specific criminal record check.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure all staff files are complete.

Comments

At this inspection dated May 27, 2021 there were 9 children, the Licensee Contact, the Manager, and two staff present. At this inspection the above noted contravention was identified. The Manager is required to take corrective action to bring the facility in to compliance and provide a written response to Licensing by June 2, 2021. As part of this routine inspection a facility risk assessment tool was completed and a copy will be provided.
The following education/recommendations were provided:
-COVID-19 prevention strategies were reviewed and discussed
-Confirmation of facility contact information; email address and phone number

The inspection findings were reviewed with the Licensee Contact and Manager at the time of the inspection. The inspection report and facility risk assessment tool were written off site (.25 hours) and a copy of this report and the risk assessment will be emailed to the Licensee Contact.
