Introduction

A routine inspection was conducted today to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act, Child Care Licensing Regulationand the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice. Evidence for this report was based on the writer's observations, review of the facility records, and information provided by the facility staff at the time of the inspection.

The following areas were reviewed:
Licensing
Physical Facility
Staffing
Policies and Procedures
Care and Supervision
Hygiene and Communicable Disease Control
Medication
Nutrition and Food Services
Program
Records and Reporting.

As part of this routine inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided. The risk assessment includes any violations identified during the routine inspection, and a 3 year 'historical' review of the facility's compliance and operation.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11020 - CCLR s.13(2) - A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation: The writer observed the following:
1) some of the floor tiles that are located at the base of the wall in the children's washroom are cracked and are no longer cleanable;
2) the housekeeping unit presently has sleep mats stored on top and the item is unstable.
Corrective Action(s): The floor tiles will need to be repaired or replaced to ensure they are nonporous and easily cleanable. The housekeeping unit will need to be secured to the wall to prevent it from inadvertently tipping over. Please provide the write with a written plan as to when these items will be addressed; this date may be different from the date the work will be completed.
