Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All care categories were inspected for compliance.

Contraventions
Previous Inspection - Contraventions observed on FIR #EGAU-3C3S2R have been corrected.
Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11020 - CCLR s.13(2) - A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensing observed that 3 plastic baskets used to store children's toys were torn. The staff patched the tears during the inspection. The Manager also advised that she will be ordering new ones.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure equipment used by the children are in good repair.

POLICIES AND PROCEDURES: 13050 - CCLR s.56(1)(c) - A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].
Observation: There was no record of last years emergency evacuation plan. The Manager advised that it was practiced.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure a record is kept for the yearly emergency plan.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19070 - CCLR s.57(2)(a) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (a) name, sex, date of birth, medical insurance plan number and immunization status.
Observation: Licensing reviewed children's files and observed that record of immunization status was missing for one child.
Corrective Action(s): Please obtain records of the children's immunization statuses prior to their start date.

Comments

At this inspection, the above noted contraventions were identified and Licensing provided a date for addressing the contraventions.

As part of this Routine Inspection, a Facility Risk Assessment Tool was completed.

The following was discussed:

· Record keeping for when children are combined from the same program
· Food safe practices in regards to keeping snack on the tables.

The information contained in the report was discussed with the Manager and the report and risk assessment were written off-site. Licensing advised that copies of the report and risk assessment would be emailed to the facility.
