Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DoLSoP). All care categories were inspected for compliance.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19210 - CCLR s.58(1)(a) - A licensee must keep, for each child requiring extra support, a current care plan showing the following information: (a) the diagnoses relevant to the child's requirement for extra support, as made by health care professionals.
Observation: During the routine inspection it was revealed that 4 children requiring extra support did not have a care plan.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure all children requiring extra support have a care plan available.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19260 - CCLR s.58(2)(b) - The licensee must (b) review the care plan at least once each year with a parent of the child requiring extra support and any person requested by the parent.
Observation: During the routine inspection it was identified that one child requiring extra support had a care plan that was created in July 2020 and was reviewed in August 2020. Manager stated that the support worker working with the child and the family are working on having the plan reviewed later this month.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure all care plans are reviewed annually.

Comments

At the inspection dated January 24, 2022 there were 9 children, 1 staff and the manager staff present. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified . Actions required by the licensee and actions required the LO included here. As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided.

The following education/recommendations were provided:
· Daily outdoor activities
· Care plans for children requiring extra support
· Reportable Incident reporting

The following resources were provided:

· Reportable incident forms
· Care Plan Bulletin
