Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): - Package of rodenticide present on floor in dishwashing area. Rodenticide is not suitable for use within a food premises.
Corrective Action(s): - Remove rodenticide from the premises and do not use inside the food premises. Use mechanical traps instead.

Comments

- Hot and cold water supplied to sinks
- Liquid soap and paper towel present at handsink for handwashing
- Staff washroom supplied with liquid soap and paper towel for handwashing.
- Coolers were operating at acceptable temperatures (4C or colder):
- Walk-in cooler 1C
- Sliding door cooler 2C
- Deli cooler 4C *Cooler was initially 6-7C; however dropped to 4C. Ensure cooler temperature is monitored and able to maintain 4C or colder.
- Thermometers present in coolers
- Food in coolers was wrapped/covered to protect it from contamination.
- Chest freezers maintaining product at -18C or colder.
- Bleach solution present for sanitizing food contact surfaces. Reviewed cleaning and sanitizing requirements for in use food equipment (eg. meat/cheese slicer)/ Staff reported slicer is cleaned and sanitized every 4 hours and it is fully disassembled each night.
- No signs of pest noted at the time of the inspection.
- Both staff members on duty have completed Foodsafe level 1.


Notified Operator of public complaint received regarding dried chickpeas purchased in late November and concerns about pests in the product. Operator reported they had received a concern/complaint from a customer regarding this in December and in response, all dried chickpeas present in store and warehouse were disposed of. Viewed packages of chickpeas present at time of inspection and did not notice any pests present. Recommend labelling re-packaged product with date (or another notation) in order to keep track of lots. No further action required.
