Introduction

A scheduled follow up inspection to the Routine Inspection # JMIA-CHDQP2 dated August 16, 2022 was conducted. Areas of non-compliance identified at the recent Routine Inspection were reviewed for compliance as well as an audit of staff files.

Contraventions
Previous Inspection - Contraventions observed on FIR # have been corrected.
Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.
Observed Violations
STAFFING: 12050 - CCLR s.19(1)(b) - A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (b) character references in respect of the person.
Observation: 5 staff files were reviewed, 1 file was without character references.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure staff files are current and complete.

STAFFING: 12140 - CCLR s.19(4)(a) - A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry. (Educator or assistant certificate validation)
Observation: 5 Staff files were reviewed, 2 staff files were without updated validations to their recently renewed Early Childhood Certificates.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure staff files are current and complete.

Comments

At the inspection dated August 30, 2022 licensing met with the manager.

Licensing notes that it appears that the previously identified contraventions have been appropriately addressed as follows:
Infant Room Inside- Plastic bags safely stored
Infant Room Outside- Rusty kitchen toys removed from playwall
Multi- Age Room Inside- Shelf secured to wall, items stored safely
30 months to School Age Room Inside- Shelf secured to wall, items stored safely

Manager responded by email with corrections to staff record contraventions.
