PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11200 - CCLR s.17 - A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.
Observation: The program first aid kits was reviewed during the inspection. A few items were stored in the kit that have medicinal ingredients in them for potential use during a minor injury. LO discussed with the manager the use of these items and parental permission if going forward these items would be used.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure children do not have access to substances that may be hazardous to their health and safety.

STAFFING: 12140 - CCLR s.19(4)(a) - A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the licensee using a system established and maintained by the director of the early childhood educator registry,
Observation: Three staff files were reviewed and none of the staff had proof of validation of the certificates through the ECE Registry. The LO reviewed the process for validating certificates with the manager during the inspection.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure all staff files are complete including validating certificates through the ECE Registry.

POLICIES AND PROCEDURES: 13030 - CCLR s.22(3) - A licensee must display a copy of the fire drill system in a prominent place in the community care facility.
Observation: Fire frill records were reviewed during the inspection. The program is in the end of the year wrap up process. I fire drill was not conducted during the month of June.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure fire drills are conducted on a monthly basis and recorded.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19160 - CCLR s.57(2)(i) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (i) a photograph or digital image of the child, and other information that can be used to readily identify the child in an emergency.
Observation: Seven children's files were reviewed and several children did not have photographs available. The LO reviewed the purpose for the requirement of having a digital image of enrolled children.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure children's files are complete including a photo of the children.
