Introduction

An unscheduled follow up inspection was conducted to assess contraventions noted on routine inspection WBET-C7GQ7T dated October 4, 2021.

Observed Violations
LICENSING: 10050 - CCLR s.11(1) - A licensee must display in a prominent place in the community care facility both the licence, including any terms or conditions of the licence, and the name of the manager.
Observation: The name of the manager is not posted.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure the name of the facility manager is posted.

STAFFING: 12152 - CCLR s.19(5)(b) - Despite this section, licensee may employ a person as a volunteer who does not provide care to children or supervise children if the licensee or the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following (b) character references in respect of the person.
Observation: A minimum of two character references were not obtained for a volunteer.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure all volunteers have a minimum of two reference checks.

STAFFING: 12153 - CCLR s.19(5)(c) - Despite this section, licensee may employ a person as a volunteer who does not provide care to children or supervise children if the licensee or the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following (c) evidence that the person has complied with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs.
Observation: Immunization status was not obtained for a volunteer.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure current immunization status is obtained for all volunteers.

Comments

At the inspection dated February 4 , 2022 there were 11 children and two staff present. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. The Licensee will take action to bring the facility into compliance and provide a written response to the Licensing Officer. The Licensing Officer will review the response. This report was reviewed with the manager and written off site. A copy of this report will be emailed to the manager. Time spent includes office time.
The following were discussed with the manager:
Care plans are to be signed and dated and need to accurately reflect what steps need to be taken by staff when providing care to a child who requires extra support.
