Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care & Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulation (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DOLSOP). Evidence for this report was based on the Licensing Officer’s observations, review of the facility records and information provided by the facility staff at the time of inspection.

The following areas were reviewed:

· Licensing
· Physical Facility
· Staffing
· Policies and Procedures
· Care and Supervision
· Hygiene and Communicable Disease Control
· Medication
· Program
· Records and Reporting

As part of the routine inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided. The Risk Assessment includes non-compliance identified during the routine inspection and a 3 year “historical” review of the facility’s compliance and operation.

Contraventions
Previous Inspection - Contraventions observed on FIR #LJON-A9FQFL have been corrected.
Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
LICENSING: 10070 - CCLR s.11(4) - A licensee must display in a prominent place in the community care facility the certificate, or a copy of the certificate, of any educator or assistant employed to work in the community care facility.
Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): One staff member's ECEA certificate was not posted. During the inspection, the licensee posted the certificate.
Corrective Action(s): Please display in a prominent place a copy of the certificate of all educators or assistants

CCFL:

Discussed the changes to the legislation and advised that the certificates of all educators or assistants need to be validated;
Reminded the licensee that the following policies need to be written by September 2017:
1) Active play policy.
2) Screen time policy.
Discussed the facilities diapering procedure;
Discussed measures taken to prevent missing or wandering children;
Would like to thank the licensee and staff for their time and cooperation.
