Introduction

An unscheduled routineinspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation: Upon inspection of the facility, there was one exposed electrical outlet in the main classroom and one exposed electrical box in the quiet room.
Corrective Action(s): Please maintain a healthy and safe environment at all times

STAFFING: 12040 - CCLR s.19(1)(a) - A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.
Observation: Upon review of the staff files, one staff did not have a current criminal record on file
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure staff files are up to date

POLICIES AND PROCEDURES: 13050 - CCLR s.56(1)(c) - A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].
Observation: Upon review of the monthly fire drills from the year 2018, the months March, August, September and November were missing records respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c)
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure records are kept current

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19090 - CCLR s.57(2)(c) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure.
Observation: Upon review of the children's attendance records, 11 days in January 2019, the children did not have departure times and 18 children in 5 days in the bus transport records did not have departure times.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure daily attendance records indicate arrival and departure times.

Summary of Inspection
At the inspection dated January 22, 2019 there were 8 children and 3 staff present. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified.
Licensee will provide Licensing with a written response explaining their corrective actions taken.As a part ofthis Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided.
The following education/recommendations were provided:
· Promoting Active Play in the program
· Active Supervision
· Lead in the Water
