Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance.

Observed Violations
STAFFING: 12210 - CCLR s.23(1)(a) - A licensee must ensure that children have at all times immediate access to an employee who (a) holds a valid first aid and CPR certificate, provided on completion of a course that meets the requirements of Schedule C.
Observation: Licensing observed that the copy of first aid certificate for the staff has not been obtained.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure that staff's first aid certificate is obtained and included in the staff file.

POLICIES AND PROCEDURES: 13020 - CCLR s.22(1)(b) - A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.
Observation: Fire Extinguisher has not been serviced annually
Corrective Action(s): Ensure that the fire extinguisher is serviced annually and the record of service is available for licensing.

NUTRITION AND FOOD SERVICES: 17120 - CCLR s.48(6) - A licensee must make available to parents information on the food and drink given to children.
Observation: Licensing was informed that the information of snack menu was not available to parents.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure that the information on snack menu is either posted at the facility or shared with the parents.

Summary of Inspection:
At the inspection dated July 27, 2022 there were 4 children and the licensee present. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. Licensee is required to submit a corrective action plan to address the contraventions.
