Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All care categories were inspected for compliance.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11020 - CCLR s.13(2) - A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation: The following was observed:
-Indoors the facility is visibly dirty; this was noted on floors, baseboards, window sills, bathroom step stool, etc.
-In the outdoor play space the fence on the west side of the outdoor play space is rotting in multiple spots and some boards are no longer secured.
-In the outdoor play space there was animal feces where children play. Some piles were picked up and disposed of at the time of inspection.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure the facility is clean and in good repair.

Comments

At this inspection dated June 12, 2023 there were 7 children and the Manager present. At this inspection the above noted contravention was identified. The facility is required to take corrective action to bring the facility into compliance and provide a written response to Licensing by June 19, 2023. As part of this routine inspection a facility risk assessment tool was completed and a copy will be provided.
At this inspection the following items were discussed:

-Replacing emergency supplies
-Reviewed CRC expiry dates
-Advertising

The inspection findings were reviewed with the Manager at the time of inspection and a copy of the inspection report and risk assessment were provided.
