Non-Critical Hazards: Total Number: 2
209 - Food not protected from contamination [s. 12(a)]
Observation:
There is water pooling on the floor in the dry storage room. The water is coming from under the wall which adjoins the public washroom facilities. Staff state that the amount of pooling water corresponds with the amount of use the washroom facities receives. The pooling water is an attractant to pests and can contaminate foods (unsure if water is clean or dirty).
Corrective Action(s):
Store all foods off the floor (even bottled drinks) and repair the problem that is causing the water to leak/drain into the dry storage room.
**Correction date: Oct. 30/17**
Violation Score: 9

211 - Frozen potentially hazardous food stored/displayed above -18 °C. [s. 14(3)]
Observation:
The upright "Kenmore" freezer had a temperature of 0C, and frozen foods (perogies, chicken strips, french fries, etc.) were defrosting. Staff started relocating foods into the chest freezer in the dry storage room. Staff stated that the freezer unit has routinely been doing this and is unreliable in keeping foods frozen.
Corrective Action(s):
Replace the freezer with a new freezer so that food is kept frozen at -18C at all times.
**Correction date: Sept. 15/17**
Violation Score: 1

Follow Up to "Critical" Violations Noted on Previous Inspections (if applicable): No corrections entered

- Quats sanitizer in spray bottle was 200ppm. Ensure this solution is made fresh every 2nd day.
- FoodSafe certified staff present.
- General sanitation level is adequate. No signs of pests.
- Food handlers use utensils to handle food and wash hands correctly.
- All foods stored in food grade containers; covered; and in groups to prevent cross contamination.
