Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All care categories were inspected for compliance.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
STAFFING: 12040 - CCLR s.19(1)(a) - A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.
Observation: A site specific CRC was not obtained for 1 staff. There was a CRC on file but for a different address and Licensing explained the CRC requirements as per CCLR.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure a site specific criminal record check is obtained for all persons ordinarily present at the facility.

Comments

At this inspection there were 14 children, 4 staff and the Manager present. At this inspection, the above contravention was identified. The Manager will send Licensing a written response addressing the contravention by Feb. 17, 2023 and Licensing will review the response. As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided.

The following was discussed/reviewed with the Manager:
· Staff to child ratio and staff requirements
· Children's allergies
· Emergency supplies
· Professional development for staff
· Annual review/training on facility's Guidance policy

The contents of this report was discussed with the Manager and a copy was emailed on Feb. 3, 2023.
