Introduction

An unscheduled inspection was conducted on January 11, 2022 to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All care categories were reviewed for compliance.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11160 - CCLR s.16(3)(a) - A licensee must ensure that the entire outdoor play area is (a) enclosed in a manner that is suitable for the age and development of children, and will ensure that children are free of harm.
Observation: Upon inspection, the outdoor fence was in poor repair (falling over) and there was an entrapment space located underneath one area.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure the facility is enclosed in a manner that is suitable for the children.

PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11190 - CCLR s.16(4)(b) - A licensee must ensure that all indoor and outdoor play materials and equipment accessible to children are (b) safely constructed, free from hazards and in good repair.
Observation: Upon inspection, Licensing found broken pieces of toys,broken mirror bits and plastic balloon pieces throughout the yard.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure all outdoor play materials and equipment accessible to children are free from hazards.

PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11200 - CCLR s.17 - A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.
Observation: Upon inspection there was a bottle of cleaner accessible to the children.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the child's health and safety.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19100 - CCLR s.57(2)(d) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.
Observation: Upon review of the children's records, one file did not have emergency contacts recorded.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure the children's files are complete.

Comments

At the inspection dated January 11, 2022 there were 7 children and 1 staff present. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. The Licensee will provide a written response to Licensing.Licensing will review the response. As part of this Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment was completed and a copy was provided.

The following discussions were had with the Licensee:

· Covid-19 prevention Strategies
· Physical Facility
· Health & Hygiene- Filling up water bottles in the kitchen

The information contained in the report was discussed with the Licensee and Licensing stated that the report will be emailed to the facility.
