Introduction

An unscheduled focused routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DoLSoP).
All care categories were inspected for compliance.

Observed Violations
CARE AND/OR SUPERVISION: 14060 - CCLR s.39(1) - A licensee must ensure that children are supervised at all times by a person who is an educator, an assistant or a responsible adult.
Observation: Licensing observed that staff in the Out of School Care were on the phone and not actively supervising or enagaging with the children, and the hand washing was not supervised by the staff as the child did not use soap to wash his hands.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure staff are actively supervising children at all times.

Comments

Summary of Inspection:
At today’s inspection there were 11 children in the Group Child Care (under 36 month) program with 4 staff, and 16 children present in the Group Child Care (30 months to school aged) program with 3 staff and 11 children in Out of School Care and two staff. The Manager was also on site to assist where necessary.
At this inspection above contraventions were identified.

As part of this Routine Inspection, a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy was provided to the facility along with this report.
The Risk Assessment includes any non-compliance identified during the routine inspection and a 3 year ‘historical’ review of the facility’s compliance and operation and is used to determine inspection frequency.

The following was discussed/information provided:
Any items in the emergency supplies bag that have expired such as baby formula should be discarded.
Ensure that staff are aware of new care plans for the new enrollment
Change of manager forms to be submitted within 30 days of the new manager's start date.
