Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care & Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulation (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DOLSP). All care categories were inspected for compliance.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11020 - CCLR s.13(2) - A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation: Foam was exposed on a change pad.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure foam is not exposed to allow proper sanitization of the change pad.

STAFFING: 12030 - CCALA s.7(1)(a) - A licensee must do all of the following: (a) employ at a community care facility only persons of good character who meet the standards for employees specified in the regulations.
Observation: The checklist used to verify staff screening was not available during this inspection.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure the staff screening checklist is available at all times.

Comments

Summary of Inspection
At the inspection dated November 22, 2021 there were 43 children and eight staff present. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. The Licensee will take action to bring the facility into compliance and provide a written response to the Licensing Officer. The Licensing Officer will review the response. As part of this routine inspection, a facility risk assessment tool is completed and a copy is provided. This report was reviewed with the manager and written off site. A copy of this report will be emailed to the manager.
The following were discussed:
Emptying water in wading pools before children use the outdoor play area.
