Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA) and the Child Care Licensing Regulation (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DoLSoP). All care categories were inspected for compliance.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation: Licensing observed three suspended unsecured ropes attached to the fence in the outdoor play space, along with two unsecured, suspended electircal cords in the facility. All were potentially within the reach of children.
Corrective Action(s): A staff placed the electrical cords outside of children's reach during the inspection and confirmed that she will remove the outdoor ropes by the end of the day today.

Upon arrival, 8 children were present along with two staff. The above noted contravention was identified during the inspection. As part of this Routine inspection, a Facility Risk Assessment Tool was completed.
The following was discussed:
- care plans
- children's records
- active supervision
- outdoor equipment
The information contained in the report was discussed with a staff. Licensing emailed a copy of the report and the risk assessment to the facility.
