Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care & Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulation (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DOLSP). All care categories were inspected for compliance.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19090 - CCLR s.57(2)(c) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure.
Observation: Absences are not being recorded and no time out had been recorded for November 8, 2022.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure that absences (eg vacation/sick) are recorded for all children and that time out is recorded every day.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19100 - CCLR s.57(2)(d) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.
Observation: The name and contact phone number for a doctor or medical clinic was not available for two children.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure all children have contact information for a doctor or medical clinic.

Comments

Summary of Inspection
At the inspection dated November 9, 2022 there were seven children and one staff present. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. The Licensee will take action to bring the facility into compliance and provide a written response to the Licensing Officer. The Licensing Officer will review the response. As part of this routine inspection, a facility risk assessment tool is completed and a copy is provided. This report was reviewed with the manager and written off site. A copy of this report will be emailed to the manager.
The following education was provided:
If a family member is qualified as a Responsible Adult and is used as a substitute teacher they must have a full staff file on site.
Record each child on a separate line on the time in/out sheet.
