Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11200 - CCLR s.17 - A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.
Observation: Licensing observed 2 electric outlets exposed and accessible to children in main play room.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure children do not have access to anything that may be hazardous to their health and safety.

STAFFING: 12090 - CCLR s.19(1)(f) - A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (f) evidence that the person has complied with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs.
Observation: Review of 3 staff files noted one staff was missing thier immunization status on file.

Comments

Summary of Inspection
At the inspection dated December 10, 2018 there were 2 children and 1 staff present. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided.
One contravention was corrected during inspection. Licensing provided immunization status form to complete staff files. Due to low attendance today licensing was unable to review complete programming. A follow up inspection will be conducted in few weeks to review before and after school care program and to meet the manager.
