Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All areas of the facility were reviewed for compliance.

Contraventions
Previous Inspection - Contraventions observed on FIR #LPEN-AV4W3G have been corrected.
Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11190 - CCLR s.16(4)(b) - A licensee must ensure that all indoor and outdoor play materials and equipment accessible to children are (b) safely constructed, free from hazards and in good repair.
Observation: Gate in backyard has been removed and the hinge left on the fence has two screws protruding at child level. Corrected while on site. Removed fence panels propped against fence had 3 boards with nails protruding. Corrected while on site.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure that fencing is free from hazards and in good repair.

PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11200 - CCLR s.17 - A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.
Observation: An glass cleaner was stored in an unlocked kitchen cupboard within reach of children.
Corrective Action(s): Please stored hazardous items so that children do not have access. Corrected on site.

Summary of Inspection
At the inspection dated December 5, 2018 there were 5 children and 1 staff present. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified.
