Specific comments: ED Smith Lemon pie filling contains 10% trans fat and exceeds the 5% trans fat restriction for food items to be used in a food service establishment. Discontinue use of this product and select a different brand of pie filling that has a nutrition profile that contains 5% trans fat or less.
Food exempt from the regulation includes:
  • Pre-packaged food with a Nutrition Facts table sold directly to the consumer without alteration
  • Food with the sole source(s) as naturally occurring trans fat (i.e. beef, sheep, lamb, bison and dairy products)
