Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA) and the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). Evidence for this report was based on the licensing officer’s observations, review of the facility records, and information provided by the facility staff at the time of the inspection.
The following areas were reviewed:
• Licensing
• Physical Facility
• Staffing
• Policies and Procedures
• Care and Supervision
• Hygiene and Communicable Disease Control
• Medication
• Nutrition and Food Services
• Program
• Records and Reporting

As part of this routine inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided. The Risk Assessment includes non-compliance identified during the routine inspection, and a 3 year “historical” review of the facility’s compliance operation.

Comments

Attendance records were reviewed. It appeared that some of the children’s were not signed out and therefore, the departure time was not recorded.
Corrective Action: Please ensure all children’s attendance are recorded including their departure time.
Comments:
The new standard of practice – Active Play and Screen time were discussed. It appeared that they are meeting the requirements of this new standard. The licensee will email me the parents booklet for a review. Writer will provide comments. At the means time, please review the booklet and ensure the requirements are reflected on the content.
The hand towels were washed once every two weeks. Recommend to wash them more often i.e. once a week to maintain good hygiene.
